A Brief Introduction to Huaiyin Normal University
Huaiyin Normal University (HNU) is a provincial university. It is located in Huai’an City, which is a national historical and cultural city with beautiful natural scenery and with profound historical and cultural traditions. Also, it is also the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai.
HNU was founded in 1958, and it can be traced back to Jiangbei University（1902）which has been in existence for more than one hundred years. The history of higher education in HNU has gone through 60 years of trials and hardships. It was upgraded into an undergraduate institution in 1997. With 60 years of development, HNU has become a famous provincial university with a profound history and excellent school spirit. It has two campuses on Changjiang road and Jiaotong road, covering an area of nearly 133 hectares, and has 17 affiliated colleges with with professional settings covering 9 disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, law, education, literature, history, management, art, etc. There are more than 20,000 full-time students on campus, among whom nearly 100 are jointly trained master’s students.
In the“Alumni association 2018, list of highly cited papers in ESI”, HNU is ranked as NO. 183 in China and ranked as NO.21 in Jiangsu province. Among the Best Chinese Universities in 2019 published by RANKING, HNU is ranked as NO.279 in China and ranked as NO.25 in Jiangsu province.
HNU has largely developed international cooperation and exchanges, and HNU has established the strategic partnership with many overseas universities including University of Nottingham, JAMK University of Applied Science, National Technical University of Ukraine, University of Brunel, Soka University etc. Also, HNU has established the friendly relationship with 60 universities and research institutions from 15 countries (regions) including England, America, France, Finland, Italy etc. HNU has the undergraduate dual-degree program with University of North Alabama, the graduate program with Belarusian National University of Culture and Arts, and post-graduate program with University of Nottingham. HNU has launched the bachelor dual-degree program with Sam Houston State University on Primary Education and built the overseas internship base of the major of primary education. HNU has nearly 30 mutual exchange programs for college students with many universities including JAMK University of Applied Science, National Technical University of Ukraine, Yamanashi Eiwa College etc. In the recent years, HNU has sent abroad over 1000 students for overseas study and received over 600 international students for long-term and short-term exchange study.
HNU has actively expanded its opening-up and cooperative exchange with an aim to train high quality personnel with international vision and creative awareness. Over the years, HNU has been constantly enhancing its popularity, reputation and influence.
